My interest in the power of sound upon our physical, emotional and cognitive experiences and senses, has informed an enquiry into sound installation and located sound within my visual art practice. This relates to Sacred Geometry, Music of the Spheres, artists John Cage and R. Murray Schafer and my own experiences playing spiritual indigenous instruments, such as the Zimbabwean mbira and visiting sacred-sites in Africa where people perform rituals in animism.

Sound is a powerful energy healer, and in conjunction with my sound art practice and performing traditional African percussion, I have undertaken a practice in Sound Healing Therapy, to respect and continue to share the incredible teachings I have received.

What is Sound Healing

Sound healing is the therapeutic application of sound frequencies to the body/mind of a person with the intention of bringing them into a state of harmony and health.

It works on the principle that every organ, bone and cell in the body has its own resonant vibration, as we are made up of energy particles, water etc. Together they make up a composite frequency like the combination of musical instruments. If a persons resonant frequency is out of tune, it is possible to use sound to bring the body back into harmony.

The key elements of sound healing, which work on our physical, emotional and spiritual levels are: Entrainment, Intention, Harmonics and Musical Intervals
