Acting on impulsive mechanisms of processing and producing constructed spaces from an imagination programmed to take logical steps and temporal sequences, I constructed a box.
It's the size of a rudimentary corrugated shack or transport cage for an exotic animal.
I enter into the wooden box to articulate a performance of constrained movement in an ambiguous space where I can reflect on natural, social and psychic energies.
Using a hand brace drill and auger bit made from Sheffield produced steel, I create intuitive holes, rotating the drill bit handle clock-wise, slowing down time with a production relative to self-sufficiency.
As the auger bit turns and grinds, wood crunches and leaks delicate light, until a hole emerges and light leaps across the inner container walls in prismatic circles producing compositional harmony.
